The Universidad
Abierta Americana (UAI) was founded in 1995 and is accredited by
various institutions: Argentine Ministry of Education, ADEEPRA (
Asociación de Entidades Educativas Privadas Argentinas ), FAEPLA
(Federación de Asociaciones Educativas de Latinoamérica y
el Caribe ) and COMEP (Confederación Mundial de Enseñanza
Privada). Today UAI has 20,000 students.
UAI has two clear goals: provide an excellent education and
develop student values. UAI declares that good teaching is
the seal of good education; that the students should be valued as
people (not numbers) with different talents and that the university
must be committed to the necessities of the surrounding community.
UAI has developed central curricula in various faculties (colleges)
such as: medicine, law, business, architecture, psychology,
occupational therapy, tourism, communication and information
technology.
UAI's greatest strength is its dedicated educational team. The
students also appreciate the fact that class sizes are relatively small
(20-25) and taught by experienced professors who offer personalized
attention. UAI's professors must attend three or four courses per
year for continuing education.
UAI's buildings are luminous, modern, extraordinarily clean, well
maintained and more than sufficient in fulfilling the principal
objective of providing an environment that is conducive to education
and learning. The university has computer labs, a library, an
Olympic-sized pool, an auditorium and sports fields at Rancho Taxco.
