Travel Documents:

Passport:
Yes, a passport is required for you to travel to Chile or Argentina. You can print a passport application at http://travel.state.gov/passport_services.html. You can also pick up an application at the main post office in most U.S. cities. If you already have a passport make sure that it will not expire during your program.

Make two photocopies of your passport identification page, airline tickets, driver's license and the credit cards that you plan to bring with you. Leave one photocopy of this data with family or friends at home; pack the other in a place separate from where you carry your valuables.

Student Visa:

Chile:

The student is responsible for obtaining the visa directly from the Chilean embassy or consulate before leaving their home country.  As soon as ICambio issues the enrollment certificate from the host university the student is encouraged to start the visa process.

Student Visa Requirements

VALID PASSPORT (Valid at least for the term of the visa)
HEALTH CERTIFICATE, issued by any doctor stating that applicant is in good health, HIV test
POLICE CERTIFICATE FOR VISA APPLICANTS
FOUR RECENT PASSPORT PHOTOGRAPHS
Enrollment certificate from host university
Proof of financial security (i.e. Bank Statement or Affidavit from the applicants parents)
Visa application fee

This visa does not allow the student to work and is good for a maximum of one year.

Argentina:

The student is responsible for obtaining the visa directly from the Argentine embassy or consulate before leaving their home country.  As soon as ICambio issues the enrollment certificate from the host university the student is encouraged to start the visa process.
